Preserving the Past, One Page at a Time
When I was approached to design a website for The Guthrie Heritage Project, I knew this wasn’t just another build. This was about preserving a place that has stood for over 1,200 years—Guthrie Kirk, a sacred and historical site nestled in the heart of Angus, Scotland.
The project wasn’t only about a website. It was about legacy. It was about giving people—Guthries, Scots, and global history lovers—a way to connect with this incredible space, to support its restoration, and to keep its story alive.
A Design Rooted in Story and Soul
Every element of the site was chosen with care, because this website needed to feel like the Kirk itself—peaceful, grounded, meaningful.
The Logo: History in Every Line
I designed the logo using the original ironwork from the Kirk’s architecture—a detail that ties the digital identity directly back to the physical space. It’s subtle, elegant, and uniquely theirs.
The Design Approach
- A clean, responsive layout that works across all devices and browsers.
- Earthy tones and timeless typography that honor the sacred nature of the building.
- Clear calls-to-action, making it easy for visitors to donate, explore, or get involved.

The Guthrie Heritage Project’s mission is now centered on preserving the Kirk as a heritage visitor center, with strong ties to Clan Guthrie and Scottish cultural history.

The site includes clear donation pathways—simple, transparent, and trustworthy—to help supporters give with confidence.
Accessibility
The mobile-first, user-friendly layout ensures the story and support opportunities are reachable from anywhere in the world.
